The practice of meditation has been used for centuries to improve overall health and mental well-being, but can we really teach our kids this invaluable tool to deal with their every day stress?
The short answer is: yes. Yes they can.
In many cultures, children are guided through the practice of meditation from a very young age, but like every skill kids learn to master, it takes time, practice, patience (from the caregivers and the kids themselves), consistency and to adjust our expectations. And before you know it, your kids will be meditating too. As you incorporate the practice to your daily routine, it is important to remember that even a few seconds of letting go of our thoughts and finding our inner peace is enough at first. With time, the seconds will turn into minutes.
Meditation has been proven to help children:
- Improve their sleep.
- Increase their focus and attention
- Reduce stress
- Reduce Anxiety
- Improve their emotional regulation.
- Increase their self-awareness and empathy.
Mindfulness is also essential to finding inner peace. Find out ways to teach mindfulness to little kids.
May you find your Inner Peace!
